Anlu is a place propitious for giving
birth to gifted men. It is the birth land of the Chu culture
and the capitals of the Juanzi KIngdom and the Anlu and De-An
Prefectures in history. The picturesque land is endowed with
the fine spirits of the universe, bringing up famous writers,
historians and politicians, such as Song Qi and Song Xiang.
It also attracted many visitors, scholars and men of letters
in various dynasties Among them were Li Bai, Du Mu, Su Shi
and Ouyang Xiu. Li Bai, the great poet in the Tang dynasty,
once left Chang-an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty and came
to Anlu. Here he married the granddaughter of Xu Yushi, the
former prime minister. His wife gave birth to a son and a
daughter. Li Bai lived in seclusion in Anlu for 10 years
and made friends through writings, leaving for us one hundred
and more immortal poems. Facing the well-endowed hills and
waters, he wrote down the poem in sentences as follows: With
peach in bloom and waters gone quietly, a new scene of a
paradise is seen in the world of men. Up to today,there are
still many relics about him. For this reason, Anlu is referred
as "the Native Place of Li Bai".
