Anlu is one of the selected points for reform tests in the Hubei
province. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central
Committee of the C.P.C., the people of Anlu have written down
a new chapter in development through keeping keen on reform
and working in good earnest. Reform in industry has recreated
a bright period. Industial enterprises at the municipality and
townshop levels, private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises
are developing in great strides at the same time, forming numbers
of industrial groups with the focus on textile, grain processing
machinery, feeder, metallurgy, aluminum products, chemical products,
construction materials, medicine, food and foodstuff, In agreculture,
on the basis of stabilizing the production of grain, cotton
and oil, Anlu has targeted at industrialization in the fields
of gingkoes, yellow cattle and pigs, fowls and fishery and set
up three industrial groups. The gingko industry has made especially
rapid progress. In 1997, the gingko industry of Anlu was listed
as "the key industrialized agricultural trade in the Hubei
province". So far, a series of gingko products have been
developed such as the gingko flavone, gingko wine, gingko medical
pillow and gingko tea. InSept. 1996, the Wushi Medical Company
completed the gingko flavone production project with an annual
output of 10 t through introducing in advanced domestic techmologies,
which was the first gingko leaf processing project in the Hubei
province. Its gingko leaf tablets are also welcome on the market.
Anlu has more than 30 kinds of products with the fine-product
titles at thenational, ministerial and provincial levels, of
which two won gold prizes, 5 silver prizes and 3 other prizes
at the national level and 23 prizes at the ministerial or provincial
level. National,provincial and regional enterprises such as
the Anlu Cotton Spinning Mill, Anlu Grain Machinery Factory,
Hubei Aluminum Factory and Xiaogan Cement Factory have settled
sown in Anlu. Foreigh-funded and private enterprises have sprung
up like mushrooms after rain, presenting a picture of prosperity.
By National Highway No.316 is the 100,000 m2 wholesale market
mainly for transaction of farming vehicles, which is active
and thriving. By National Highway No.316 is also located the
7 km2 provincial economic development zone. The social welfare
cause is developing rapidly too. Anlu ahs been named by the
centaral government as the national advanced unit in social
security, the national 100-top city in distributing books and
magazines in rural areas, the land of folk art, the national
advanced city in sports, the national advanced city in comprehensive
environment renovation. Anlu is also known as the native place
of cartoon and football.
